Data visualization market is huge. This technology stack was missing in Salesforce analytics platform. Data Analytics will be the core of Salesforce offerings going forward.
Tableau is the latest of Salesforce acquisition to bolster its Analytics / AI platform Einstein. CRM Platform creates massive sales data and customers need specialist Data scientists to work on this and predict outcomes. Demand ware and beyond core were the earlier acquisition in bolstering the Einstein platform and Tableau should be seen as an important components to this.
With Tableau, Salesforce can deepen its integrated analytics stack in its own cloud, by providing customers a place to analyse it in a single place, without the need for migrating to other clouds.
Salesforce is focusing on customer 360 as the cross cloud technology to make marketing, commerce and service products work together in the cloud and Tableau acquisition will fill the void in visualization and Self service BI.
This acquisition will reinforce Salesforce position in the Analytics market.
